Women have always been extremely particular about how they look. Beauty and looking good has been closely linked to self-confidence and how women carry themselves. It is widely acclaimed that having flawless skin, no acne, spots, or discoloration on your hair and skin helps you feel better about yourself in the long term.
The latest trend in beauty treatments and spas is Do-It-Yourself or homemade, homegrown remedies to feel good in the comfort of your home. Another driving factor behind this trend is that home spa ideas are extremely economical and can make a huge difference in the cost of treatments. Most elaborate spa setups are expensive. Instead, having a natural spa at home is a great idea to save money and get the best out of natural ingredients found in almost all homes.
Let us see some natural home spa ideas that can benefit you using ingredients found in common households.
Honey Avocado Facial Mask:
Avocado has excellent nourishing and moisturizing properties that your facial skin can benefit from. It also has Omega 3 fatty acids that work in replenishing tenderness and youthful look to your skin. Honey is known for its humectant properties and is an excellent remedy for dry skin and dry lips.
Mash the pulp of avocado with 4-5 teaspoons of honey till it turns into a paste-like consistency that is thick enough to apply on your face. Apply this paste on clean, warm, moist skin and leave on for approximately 25 – 30 minutes. Once done, wash in circular motions with some cold water to close your pores.
Use this honey avocado mask once a week to get rid of all dry skin problems. If the problem persists, you could increase the usage to twice a week.
Coffee Sugar Body Scrub:
The coarseness of coffee and sugar makes for excellent exfoliates. Coffee helps remove the dead, dry, and flaky skin from facial and body skin while the natural oils in coffee help moisturize and soothe the skin. Coarse sugar works wonders in removing dirt and grime from pores on your body that are not easily visible. This dirt continues to stay on the skin and eventually starts darkening or infecting the skin.
Mix together 1 cup of ground coffee with half a cup of brown or white sugar and 4 -5 teaspoons of olive oil. Use this scrub in the shower and massage into pores in strong wide circular motions. Coffee in the scrub also helps in periodic degeneration of cellulite buildup from the body. Use the coffee sugar body scrub as often as needed.
Banana Egg Hair Pack:
Bananas are packed with vitamins and minerals that nourish the hair to give it shine and smoothness. They also contain potassium and natural oils that help in increasing elasticity of hair to prevent breakages and split ends. Eggs provide much-needed nutrition in strengthening weak or limp hair and work wonders in softening hair cuticles.
Mash one ripe banana with 1 whole egg, 1 tablespoon of honey and a little milk mixed with a teaspoon of olive oil. Blend or mix this till it gets a smooth paste-like consistency. Apply this hair pack evenly and cover with a shower cap. Leave this mixture on for about 30 minutes and then wash off with the help of a mild shampoo to get envious looks from all other people around you!
Tea Bag Under-eye Treatment:
Green tea, Chamomile tea, or Black teas are naturally anti-inflammatory. These teas help decrease puffiness in the under-eye area, reduce swelling, and ease redness in eyes. Black and Green teas are known to contain tannins and caffeine that shrink blood vessels, swollen tissues, and also have an astringent effect. Chilled tea bags help in maintaining even eyes in the harshest of conditions.
Steep any two tea bags (Green tea, Black tea, or Chamomile tea) in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Remove the tea bags from the hot water and refrigerate them till cold. Place the tea bags over your eyes for about 15 minutes. You can drink the hot tea steeped earlier while you wait. Once done, rinse off with cold water. Use this tea bag under-eye remedy twice or three times a week for optimum results.
As women get older and are involved with more work and stress, they tend to ignore their bodies and looks. Allot some time towards a weekly pampering time for your skin and see the best possible results without spending excess money in parlors and expensive spas.
