Ruralisation, a possible planning method to avoid impacts from reduced energy input
Folke Günther, Lund University, Sweden

To avoid the worst impacts from oil shortage, a societal structure that avoids dependence on storages might be favorable. The most critical dependencies today are those of energy and nutrient (esp. phosphorus) storage. A societal structure that is using more of energy flows (the sun and its derivatives) and recycling of nutrients is outlined. This put strains on transport range. A scenario (realization) that depicts a gradual change into such a society is presented (ppt presentation).
